A letter of condolence to a business acquaintance is not strictly a business letter but a personal letter. It is best laid out in the style of a more informal letter (see page 3), but it may nonetheless have the name and business address of the person you are writing to above the salutation. The style and wording will depend on your relationship with the person you are writing to, and whether you are writing in a personal capacity or on behalf of your company or organisation. The letter can in either case be brief, but not so brief as to be cold and impersonal. If you are writing on behalf of an organisation, your letter will usually be typed:
